Fraser Island has rightly become an Australian icon, known around the world for its spectacular, pristine beauty and diverse ecology, as the largest sand island in the world, and home to the best whale watching on the planet. The Fraser Island hotels, the backpacker's lodge, national park camping grounds and private tent villages couldn't have chosen a more tranquil and ideal location.

Fraser Island Accommodation
Unlike many islands, Fraser has kept resort style accommodation to a minimum, preferring to provide well-appointed camping facilities that complement the natural environment. Fraser Island hotel accommodation is provided by Kingfisher Resort of the western mainland side of the island, and Eurong Beach Resort on the eastern side with beach-front access.
Kingfisher Hotel offers bungalows to 3-bedroom townhouse style villas, many overlooking the bay or the lakes surrounding the hotel, and comfortable resort-style living. Fraser Island resort, Eurong Beach, provides a variety of accommodation, including self-contained units, two-bedroom apartments and cottages. Guests enjoy tennis facilities, swimming pools, a bakery and general store and relaxing restaurant, bar and BBQ facilities.
There may not be too many backpacker's hostels like the beautifully converted and restored timber lodges of Fraser Island Backpackers. Located at Happy Valley, the nine, 6-person lodges are nestled into the bushland close to the Maheno Shipwreck and Eli Creek and a short distance to Indian Heads and the Champagne Pools. The hostel enjoys a private swimming pool, bar, bottleshop and bistro, and Internet facilities.
National park camping is available at six locations, all providing adequate bathroom facilities, clean water, BBQ and picnic facilities. There are also scattered designated camping sites right on the beach front. No amenities are available but the views are stunning.
Frasers at Cathedral Beach is a private camping ground providing permanent tent and cabin accommodation in 25 lush, beach-side acres. Located centrally to the coloured sand cliffs and between Eli Creek and Indian Head, the park has a convenience store, camp kitchen and picnic areas.
The Fraser Island Company maintain our own luxury permanent tents in Frasers @ Cathedral Beach providing kings sized beds and many little luxuries, providing a tranquil alternative to the more main-stream Fraser Island hotels.
