Fraser Island Camping Experience

Imagine waking up on a pristine island washed by the Pacific Ocean. Your first view through your tent flap is stands of tropical Pandanus palms standing stark against a never-ending ocean washed gold with the rising sun. Behind your tent stretches vast heritage listed sub-tropical rainforests, native scrub and heathlands crossed with liquid-crystal creeks, dotted with sparkling clear lakes and alive with the ringing call of birds and a unique diversity of flora and fauna. You wander down to the beach and watch dolphins rhythmically surface and dive as they feed on the abundant marine life. The island is K'gari – Fraser Island – and this is Fraser Island camping.

Fraser Island enjoys a variety of camping options from the six national parks camping grounds with basic amenities to private camping facilities. Beach locations include Dundaburra and Waddy Point on the eastern side of Fraser and Wathumba on the mainland western shore or right on the beach at One Tree Rocks. In the tranquil inland regions, camping grounds are located at Lake Allom, Lake Boomanjin and Central Station with bookings essential for all grounds.

Scattered along the beach, camp sites without amenities are available in signed areas. Where you camp, all food must be placed in locked or secured containers as protection from the wandering pure-bred dingo population.

On a Fraser Island Company eco accredited camping safari you can experience either two or three day tours packed with fun-filled adventure getting to know this 800,000 year old sand island, and exploring areas seldom visited by other tour companies.

Our camping on Fraser Island is at Frasers at Cathedral Beach, private Fraser Island camping grounds, located on the eastern beach side amidst the islands most stunning beauty spots.

Cathedral Beach is as much a laid-back community as a camp site just 400 meters from the vast expanse of Seventy Five Mile Beach. In fact, Frasers @ Cathedral Beach is probably like no other camping ground you have ever encountered.

Though you'll be visiting an unspoilt wonderland, in our own permanent tent village camp at Fraser Island you'll stay in ultra comfortable accommodation, sleeping in king-sized beds. The camping site nestles into 25 acres of lush bush land yet still enjoys the discrete convenience of a general store, power and a camp kitchen. But you won't need to cook a thing. Our tour guides will whip up a treat for each delicious meal including steak and seafood, fresh salads, beer and wine – even a scrumptious dessert.

On Fraser Island, camping permits are necessary however all island fees are included in the price of our guided tour.

Fraser is an island built for relaxing back and enjoying the natural beauty. On one of our Fraser Island camping tours you'll be sure not to miss a thing.
