Discover True Relaxation on a Fraser Island Beach

The expression "Life's a beach" was never more apt than on a long, white, unspoiled Fraser Island beach - just pick one.

The full 166,038 hectares of Fraser Island have been World Heritage Listed since 1992. One of the reasons for listing included the wording, "unique landscapes, which are examples of superlative natural occurrences".

The ancient towering sub-tropical rainforests, the only rainforests growing on sand dunes anywhere in the world, give stunning testament to that statement, as do the 40 freshwater dune lakes, one of Australia's only pure-bred dingo communities, the unique flora and fauna. But it could be the beaches that are the biggest draw cards for visitors.

Eurong Beach - A vast, flat expanse of beach south of the Hammerstone Sandblow and Lake Wabby and one of the busier areas of the island. The Eurong Beach Resort, sprawled throughout a tropical landscape, enjoys front row privileges and views of this magnificent location.

Orchid Beach - Rimming Marloo Bay, Orchard Beach enjoys one of the most beautiful locations on the island. Nestled alongside Waddy Point, Orchid Beach is within minutes of Indian Head and the Champagne (natural spa) Pools, dotted with shallow lagoons and edged by high sand hills ideal for sand tobogganing.

Cathedral Beach - Surrounded by the stunning cliffs of Coloured Sands and the pure waters of Eli Creek and the endlessly fascinating hulk of the Maheno shipwreck, this glorious beach also accommodates the tranquil and very private Frasers at Cathedral Beach permanent tent village.

Kingfisher Bay - Clear, tranquil expanses of quiet water and tree-lined stretches of sand on the mainland side of the island, and home to the expansive award-winning resort complex of Kingfisher Bay Resort.

Seventy Five Mile Beach - Stretching three-quarters of the way up the ocean bound side of Fraser for mile after white idyllic sand mile, 75 Mile Beach is the only beach that is also a gazetted highway.

Rainbow Beach - This pure arc of beach, rimmed by sand cliffs and clear turquoise ocean, is actually on the mainland and is the closest access point - a 10-minute barge ride - to Fraser Island. The beach is famous for the seventy four shades of coloured sands, as an Aboriginal sacred site and a mecca for hang-gliders.
